What The Fitness?!

The New Year usually coincides with the starting of something new or beginning new habits.  Now, whether you are already into fitness and wellness or you are wanting to get people started with you there are some really good questions to ask yourself to make sure you are on the right track.

What are you wanting to do?

Do you want to do something sports specific, want to shed a few pounds for an upcoming event or want to establish new healthy habits for many more years to come? Getting specific and figuring out what you are doing it for can leave you with a deeper sense of understanding of yourself and what is important to you.

Do you have the means?

Are you needing sports specific coaching, are you on an expression of mental wellness and need a therapist, or do you just need a good coach to help handle your daily habits, nutrition and fitness needs?

What is the timeline?

How long are you wanting this to take? Is this a short term or long term goal? What does 1 year down this same path look like. What about 3 years or 5 years?

Are your expectations realistic?

Using your 5 year plan work backwards to now.  Do you have the means and the ability to get to that spot in 5 years? What if you did that with your 3 year plan? Are you able to get to where you want to be? Start by building backwards, see if all your plans are aligned, and in the worst case scenario can you accomplish it? In the best case scenario can you accomplish it.? If not, adjust your expectations to make it more realistic.

Use these questions to help keep you on track and plan out as you go.  Lists and accomplishments are the little dopamine hits our brain enjoys and start the year off right.
