Meeting Yourself Where You Are - Introduction
This next series of blogs & vlogs will go over what it means to “meet yourself where you are”. We are going to take some deep dives into things that clients and coaches have the most trouble with in getting started and ways we can overcome them. From building self confidence, practicing grace, lifting more weight, getting better sleep, or overall prioritizing ourselves. No matter where you are going, you must know and accept where you are at this very moment
So, why is it so important to understand our starting point? Whatever we are setting out to accomplish, we will always paint a clearer picture of that journey if we understand where we have been and allow ourselves to be where we are. As the saying goes, “ those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it”. Now, repeating something isn’t always a bad thing. Where it becomes an issue is when these things aren’t productive or limit us from reaching our potential.
“Insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting a different result” - Albert Einstein
Einstein’s quote is based on the idea that the innovation of science and progress requires understanding and adaptation. To achieve this he was applying the scientific method in these instances but, for us, we simply need to observe things we have done, reflect on what the result was and make adjustments that will help us in small, positive ways with what we are doing.
We all struggle with something (well, things). A lot of us know that all too well. The negative self talk or the doubt that we should be doing more, be a certain way or have already reached a certain point. So, it makes sense that Part 1 will be on Self Compassion.
